The International Symposium on Transformative Ocean Science has officially received endorsement as a Decade Activity under the UN.
This recognition highlights the Symposium’s role in advancing transformative ocean knowledge, strengthening the science-policy interface, and fostering intergenerational dialogue through the participation of Early Career Ocean Professionals.
Starting tomorrow, around 100 invited scientists, policymakers, innovators and ECOPs from across the world will gather in Venice to explore the future of marine research.
Through keynotes and interdisciplinary working groups, participants will address key topics including Al, ocean observation, deep-sea exploration, biodiversity, innovation and ocean governance.
The discussions will contribute to concrete outcomes – including a White Paper, Policy Brief and Strategic Roadmap – supporting future ocean research agendas, the Ocean Pact, and the objectives of the UN Ocean Decade.
Follow the Symposium over the coming days as we share highlights and insights from the discussions.

CNR–ISMAR is pleased to announce the opening of the Venice hub of the Biodiversity Gateway, part of the National Biodiversity Future Center.

The event will introduce the vision, objectives, and activities of the Biodiversity Gateway— a national physical and digital infrastructure supporting biodiversity research, protection, and engagement.

Further details and the official programme will be shared soon.
